The Home Office Reimagined microenvironment incorporates products and technologies to depict elements of a healthy home office, such as ergonomically correct furnishings and flexible office products.

This space applies insights from the Well Living Lab’s Acoustics, Lighting, Thermal Comfort in Office or ALTCO study, Well Living Lab stress and biophilia research aimed at designing a healthy and productive home office environment, and the Stand and Move at Work Trial conducted by the University of Minnesota and Arizona State University.

Well Living Lab studies provide hints as to the optimal office and home office conditions by using the lab’s office modules. Researchers noted that study participants felt more productive and energetic at day's end when an office space is set to around 71 degrees, has ample access to natural light, and little background noise is present.

Well Living Lab studies also indicate that a biophilic environment - one in which green plants and elements of nature are incorporated - results in reduced stress, improved environmental satisfaction, and enhanced aspects of cognitive performance among study participants.

The Stand and Move at Work Trial, conducted by Well Living Lab collaborator the University of Minnesota along with the Arizona State University, showed that not only did the use of a sit-stand desk reduce sitting time over one year but, among those with prediabetes or diabetes, may result in improved metabolic health.
