Well Living Lab Appoints Research Director
ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA (June 7, 2019) —The Well Living Lab has appointed Veronique Roger, M.D. as research director to guide the lab as it develops a focused research roadmap to further advance the lab’s mission of transforming human health and well-being in the indoor environment.
Dr. Roger, an emeritus member of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees and Mayo Clinic Board of Governors, was also the founding director of the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Healthcare Delivery. She is actively involved in initiatives relevant to the research use of clinical data. She has served in other leadership roles nationally including the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung and Blood (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health. She is a member of the Association of American Physicians. Dr. Roger has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health for more than two decades. She will continue with her other responsibilities as she takes on this role.

Besides visioning the future of the lab, Dr. Roger also will develop a Well Living Lab research collaboration model with universities/academia, industry and government and she will provide mentorship and career development support to Well Living Lab scientists. She will serve in this position until a permanent research director is hired.

Dr. Roger received her training at the Paris, France Medical School and Minnesota School of Public Health. She is a Professor of Epidemiology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the Elizabeth C. Lane and Nadine M. Zimmerman Professor of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She will serve in this new position until a full-time research director is hired.

The Well Living Lab, a collaboration of Delos and Mayo Clinic, is located adjacent to Mayo’s downtown campus in Rochester, Minnesota, and is dedicated to identifying how indoor environments impact human health and well-being. It conducts research with human subjects in a simulated real-world environment and shares practical findings that can be applied to improving indoor spaces where most people now spend approximately 90% of their time.
